Woof is a service of Nomadis (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information in connection with the Woof website and related services (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information we collect
We collect information in the following categories, depending on how you use the Service:
- Account and authentication data — for example, identifiers and profile details provided when you sign in (including through a third-party identity provider such as Clerk), and session or security-related tokens needed to keep you logged in.
- Profile and booking information — content you submit such as pet and walker profiles, photos, messages or notes related to bookings, availability, ratings, and similar operational data.
- Connected calendar data (walkers) — if you choose to link Google Calendar, we receive OAuth tokens (stored in encrypted form), read event timing to infer when you are busy (we cache merged busy intervals, not event titles, for scheduling), and may create or update calendar entries that represent Woof booking requests and confirmed walks. You can disconnect in the app; disconnect clears stored tokens and cached busy data from our database where the product supports it.
- Technical and usage data — such as IP address, device or browser type, general location derived from IP, pages viewed, and timestamps. We use this to operate, secure, and improve the Service and to diagnose issues.
- Communications — if you contact us directly, we retain the content of your message and contact details so we can respond.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service (including displaying profiles, coordinating booking requests, and sending operational emails such as booking notifications where configured).
- Authenticate users, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms of Use.
- Analyze usage in aggregate to understand product performance (we do not sell personal information for third-party marketing).
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
3. Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar regions)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process personal data on one or more of the following bases: performance of a contract with you (providing the Service); legitimate interests (security, product improvement, and communications that are not overridden by your rights); consent where we ask for it (for example for certain cookies or marketing, if offered); and legal obligation where applicable.
4. Sale and resale of data
We do not sell, rent, license, or resell personal information collected through Woof to third parties for their independent advertising or data-broker purposes. We do not operate Woof as a data harvesting or resale product. California residents: we describe this further in Section 10 below.
5. Disclosure of information
We may share information with:
- Service providers — vendors who process data on our behalf (for example hosting, authentication, email delivery, analytics, or security). Walkers who connect Google Calendar also rely on Google as described in Google’s terms and privacy notice for that product. They are contractually limited to using data for the purposes we specify.
- Other users — information you choose to place on public or semi-public parts of the Service (such as walker or pet profiles) is visible as designed.
- Legal and safety — regulators, law enforcement, or others when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, or security.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.
6. International transfers
We may process and store information in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses approved by regulators) for transfers from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland.
7. Retention
We retain information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to provide the Service, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements. Retention periods vary depending on the type of data and context; when data is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it where feasible.
8. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export certain personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact us using the channels we publish for Woof. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling requests.
You can control some information through your account settings (where available). For marketing emails, if we send them, you can use the unsubscribe link in the message.
10. U.S. state privacy notices (including California)
Residents of certain U.S. states may have additional rights under local privacy laws. We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are commonly defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use sensitive personal information for inferring characteristics in a way that would trigger opt-out rights under CCPA beyond permitted service operation.
California residents may request to know, delete, or correct personal information we hold, subject to exceptions. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. Authorized agents may submit requests on your behalf where permitted by law. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
11. Cookies and similar technologies
We and our service providers may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to remember preferences, keep you signed in, measure performance, and secure the Service. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect functionality.
12. Children’s privacy and walker ages
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have received such information, contact us so we can delete it.
Users who list themselves as dog walkers must be at least 14 and complete the age confirmation in the walker profile where the Service asks for it, as described in our Terms of use. We do not independently verify date of birth.
13. Third-party links
The Service may link to third-party sites or services. This policy does not apply to them; please review their privacy notices.
14. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. For material changes, we may provide additional notice (for example by email or a banner on the Service) where required by law.
This policy is a general description and not legal advice. For questions, contact Nomadis through the channels we publish for Woof.
